A Fool in Search of Wisdom
Jayram’s Story: Level 1, Foundations
It’s normal to feel agitation before the calm sets in.
Jayram has an ocean of information and no peace to show for it, until one pointed question from a jealous friend sends him looking for a guide. What follows is eleven short, modern stories, drawn from a 350-year-old Marathi wisdom text, about pride, listening, spiritual ego, and the long, unglamorous work of actually changing. Nothing here is resolved neatly. That’s the point.
Every story in this book began somewhere real. Written from twenty years of daily mantra practice and a 3,500-kilometre walk along India’s Narmada River as a wandering monk, not from theory.
About the book
Ancient Indian wisdom, retold for today
This is Jayram’s story. A man who owns an ocean of knowledge and discovers, one honest question at a time, that it was never the same thing as peace. Pushed by a jealous friend’s pointed question, he decides to find a real guide, stumbles badly along the way, misuses the very first lesson he’s given, and is confronted, gently then not so gently, by the people who know him best.
What he learns isn’t delivered as a lecture. It arrives as a returned visit after a long avoidance, an unexpected hug, a story about a river losing itself in the sea. By the end, nothing is fully resolved. Jayram is still mid-storm when the book closes. What he’s given instead is the knowledge that the storm itself is normal, and that it passes.
Nothing here asks you to change anything. This is simply the noticing: watching one ordinary, flawed, honest man find his way through real turbulence, in case something in his story steadies something in yours.
Eleven stories
Each story traces back to real teachings from Shreemad Dasbodh, Samarth Ramdas’s 350-year-old Marathi wisdom text. From foundations of knowledge to humility, pride, and the ordinary turbulence before peace settles in.
ॐDrawn from practice, not theory
Written from two decades of daily mantra meditation within the Ram Naam tradition, and a 3,500-kilometre walk along the Narmada River as a wandering monk. Uday didn’t write this from research. He lived it.
